Famagusta Half-Day Tour
This tour invites you to explore the fascinating contrasts of Famagusta – from its lively historic center to the eerie silence of the abandoned Varosha district.
We begin with a visit to the beautifully preserved walled city of Famagusta, where Gothic cathedrals, Venetian city walls, and Ottoman-era architecture blend into a unique cultural mosaic. You'll discover highlights like the majestic St. Nicholas Cathedral, now the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, and the Othello Castle (visit it in your free-time), which inspired Shakespeare’s famous play.
After exploring the city’s rich past and charming streets, we’ll enjoy lunch (not included) in the heart of Famagusta at a local restaurant, where traditional mezes and grilled specialties offer a true taste of Cyprus.
In the afternoon, we’ll head to the southern edge of the city to view the hauntingly quiet district of Varosha. Once a glamorous beach resort, visited by celebrities in the 1960s and '70s, Varosha was abruptly abandoned during the 1974 conflict and has remained sealed off for decades. Recently reopened to limited public access, the empty hotels and crumbling streets stand frozen in time – a powerful reminder of Cyprus’s divided history.
